A Hello to Technicolor – NYC RGB, 2023, Screen print, 29,5 x 46,2 cm
The screen print work A Hello to Technicolor is part of a series in which she has been exploring early color film processes for some time. She takes up these early experiments in bringing color into cinema and photography and uses them to reflect on human perception. The series of works consists of 16mm film installations, 16mm films and screen prints.
In her CMYK screen print series, she transforms the 16mm film stills created using the additive color process into the subtractive color space. Individual film stills are deliberately extracted from the moving image and placed in a new context. One of the most successful early color film processes, Technicolor, also combined additive processes in the camera with a subtractive process that ultimately transferred the colors to the film strip.
